It was almost a year ago when I had my son and nearly a year since I decided I wanted to stay home with him. It’s amazing how bringing that tiny human into the world can totally change your direction in life. I was a Marketing Manager with every intention of working my way up in corporate America, then BAM, I’m a stay at home mom and a small business owner. There were a lot of things we thought through and prepared for when I quit my job to become a full-time mom and blogger. My new work “dress code” was not one of them. I quickly discovered wearing my old sweats and oversized sweatshirts day in and day out was dragging me down. I decided to step things up and purchase practical, cute lounge clothes that would improve my mood but didn’t require a lot of work to get ready. These are my favorite cute, comfy lounge clothes for moms so I don’t feel like a slob 😉
Cute, Comfy Lounge Clothes for Mom’s
So, the main thing for me was ditching the oversized sweatpants and sweatshirts (some of which were my husband’s I claimed while pregnant, oops) in favor of more fitted, fashionable styles. I wanted cute, comfy lounge clothes that were still super comfortable and practical for running around after a toddler, running errands, and also sitting at a computer for hours. My perfect mom lounge clothes include leggings, joggers, lounge pants, tunics, tees, hoodies, and pullovers.
Sweatshirts, Hoodies, and Pullovers: Cute Lounge Clothes Essentials
In Minnesota, there is really only 1-2 months out of the year where might not wear a hoodie and even then, it gets cool at night. I pretty much always have some type of hoodie, pullover or sweatshirt on when I’m going casual. The only thing that changes is the weight. It’s like a mom lounge clothes staple. This is why I’ve been upgrading them to some that are a bit more fashionable and public appropriate.
DoubleHood Sweatshirt
I’m in love with my new DoubleHood Sweatshirt. I had been eyeing it for almost a year and kept missing the Tan and black stripe option when it came back in stock (they sell out FAST). Well, I finally saw the restock and jumped on it. I’m so glad I did. The sweatshirt is mid-weight and a little stretchy and long enough to wear with leggings. So basically PERFECT. Now the only issue is picking my next color because they are all so amazing. I did size up 1 size in the DoubleHood for extra room in the bust and extra length. You will love these!
Fuzzy Jacket
I LOVE fuzzy jackets. I wear them more than any other hoodie or pullover I own. It’s super convenient, extra cozy, and still cute. I just love them. I also recently discovered a new brand of zip jackets and hoodies on Amazon that are awesome quality and so cute!

Sherpa Pullovers: Mom Lounge Clothes Staple
My super fluffy sherpa pullover got me through our 2 week -15 degrees cold snap we recently had. I wore it under my huge down parka everywhere I went. Even my husband loves it, he calls it my teddy bear sweater. haha I sized up one size for length in the sleeve and extra coziness. I have a few favorites I’ll link here:

Side Snap Tunic Hoodie
I’m obsessed with these side snap tunic hoodies. They are the perfect length for leggings, super cozy, and come in several colors. Plus, these jogger style leggings (aka loggers) are the best ever.

Joules Sweatshirts
I’ve had a couple Joules Sweatshirts for years. I am a horse loving equestrian and so I frequent tack stores. These take the term sweatshirt to a whole new level. They’re fitted, high quality, unique stitching, patches, and designs. I love them and unless I’m going to a sporting event, they’re basically the only actual sweatshirts I wear. So cute.
Curved Hem Hoodie Tunic: My Cute, Comfy Lounge Clothes Essential
I’ve also blogged about this amazing sweatshirt tunic before but it has to be brought up again. I sized up 1 size to a medium for a little extra room and length but my regular size would have fit, just a little tighter. Since writing this I bought another one of these in dark grey in a small. It fits but is a little snug in the hips so size up if you need a little more room there. (last I checked, this was on sale for $13!!!) Check the current price >>

Crazy Soft Long Open Front Sweater
I love this sweater. Honestly, I didn’t realize how great it would be when I ordered it online. I really liked the color because it goes with almost anything but the soft, bouncy knit is what hooked me. It’s perfect for lounging around the house, chasing toddlers, or running errands.
Also, can we talk about how amazing this #boymom t-shirt is!? And she has a ton of other awesome styles. Shop them all here >>

The Best Lounge Tops for Stay at Home Mom Clothes
Let’s be honest, I still wear a few super soft oversized t-shirts from time to time, but it’s nice to have some cute tops for lounging around the house. It just makes me feel a bit more like a put together adult.
Thermal Top
I’ve been seeing this thermal top everywhere and it’s SO cute and comes in tons of colors. Comfy, cozy, fashionable, and versatile. You can wear it buttoned as a regular top, knotted in the front for a shorter, trendy look, or unbuttoned over a tank top. LOVE.
Basic V-Neck T-Shirts
I have tons of these v-neck t-shirts. I wear them to bed almost every night. They’re cheap, cute, and comfy. Perfect mom lounge clothes or pajamas! Plus, you can totally wear them in public because that’s what they’re actually meant for.
Raglan Sleeve Shirts
I have a few raglan sleeve tees in different colors and I love them. They’re flattering on everyone, the sizing is flexible because there is no shoulder seam and they are really comfortable.
Best Long Tops for Leggings
When it comes to cute comfy lounge clothes, I like to have a few basic long tops on hand that match all my leggings. That way I can wear them under hoodies, pullovers, cardigans, etc. that are too short to wear with leggings. Not critical for around the house but it is when I go out running errands. I have a few go-to places for long tops.
Basic Long Tops for Leggings
I like the tall option in their shirts. It allows you to get a normally regular length shirt that would be too short for leggings, in a long version. It opens the door to a lot of great tops for leggings.
I also love these tunics. True to size and perfect for layering and lounging.
Best Affordable Leggings for Mom Lounge Clothes
I was pretty well covered in the leggings department so didn’t need to do any upgrading there. A coworker introduced me to the BEST leggings a while back and have pretty much stuck with that brand ever since. I do stray here and there when I find a really great style or color I just have to have, like these. They are hands down my favorite leggings right now.

The Best Cheap Faux Leather Leggings
I love the Spanx faux leather leggings but I just can’t justify the price. I ordered a few pairs of dupes and found an awesome pair that’s thick (usually the problem with cheap faux leather leggings), not too shiny, supportive, and CHEAP! Shop my favorite cheap faux leather leggings here. I sized up 1 size and they fit perfect.
Update: I broke down and ordered the Spanx Moto Leggings and I have to say, they are amazing. They can totally be dressed up or down and give a casual outfit a little flair. I still like the affordable option as well, they just are two different looks.

Best Pants and Joggers for Cute Comfy Lounge Clothes
Finding cute lounge pants was the hardest part for me. I wanted pants that were either fitted or loose and flowy what I mostly found was something in between which is just frumpy. These are the pants I wound up loving and that I’m currently living in.
Loose Fit, Velour Pants
I recently got a pair of velour pants on clearance at Target. They are the most amazing silky soft material on the inside. The flowy fabric and color are just amazing and girly. Unfortunately, they are sold out but you can shop similar pants here.

Heavyweight Joggers for Cute Comfy Lounge Clothes
I wanted a couple pair of really warm pants to replace my old oversized sweatpants. (They were from the horse barn I used to ride at and said “saddle up” on the butt. I mean, it was just time, lol.) So I tried several pairs from various places but all of them were really baggy in the thighs and butt and tight at the ankles which just made them look like straight 90’s sweatpants. I finally found some jogger style sweatpants that are great and super warm.
Waffle Knit Thermal Pants
I also love to wear my thermal, waffle knit pants with my cute comfy lounge clothes. They’re super comfy, fitted, and lightweight but warm. Love these and they always come in a tone of patterns. Mine are a bright green color that I would never wear in public but my husband loves them so at home it is!
Base Layer Tights
I’m wearing my North Face base layer tights as I type. They are intended for outdoor use under snow pants but I also wear them around the house. They are just so stretchy and comfortable and surprisingly warm for a super lightweight fabric. The best. I usually size down in base layer.
Basic Black Yoga Pants
I also have a few pairs of basic black straight leg yoga pants. I have these and I usually wear my regular size or a size down in them. They’re usually really stretchy so pretty flexible when it comes to fit. These are also a good options.
