So, I’m basically obsessed with HGTV and home decorating. We purchased a 1968 fixer-upper a couple years ago and went crazy renovating almost every room. I have a really eclectic design style but I’m also really picky. I have an idea in my mind of what I want and I hunt until I find the perfect fit. This means everything from cabinets and countertops to knick-knacks and yes, Turkish Kilim pillows, are all pieces I love. I don’t, by any means, have a magazine worthy home. I have cats, a baby, and a budget conscious (frugal, thrifty, cheap) husband. Everything I have needs to be practical and affordable but this doesn’t mean it can’t be pieces you love. It just takes a little more work.
My latest design obsession is Turkish Kilim Pillows.

Kilim pillows are made from new or antique hooked, wool, Turkish rugs. The concept of using a large antique rug to create something smaller basically means no 2 pieces will be alike. The large pattern in the hooked wool rug translates totally different in the pillow, and that’s what I love about them.
Depending on the rug used, the patterns can range from Aztec, Moroccan, Tribal, Bohemian, Geometric, Floral, and of course, Turkish. Colors in the Kilim rugs and pillows vary greatly. They range from muted neutrals to vibrant reds and oranges.
My living room has an eclectic lodge feel. I have a mix of new pieces and sentimental antiques but everything feels very cozy and warm. I’ve been looking for new tribal pillows to bring some additional color to the room, right now the furniture is a bit monochromatic. We’re still using the dark brown heinous accent pillows that came with our brown leather couches and no matter what my husband says, it’s time they go. The problem (or best thing ever) with Turkish Kilim pillows are, there are thousands of them and they are all uniquely beautiful. I am having the hardest time committing because the options are endless. I’m looking for Aztec, Moroccan, or tribal pillows in orange or red with light blue mixed in. I’m also looking for an ivory and black pillow to break up the color and add something light to our dark lodge living room. I really love the mismatched throw pillow look, my husband doesn’t really get it but as with everything we’ve done in our house, once it’s finished he realizes I’m a genius.

Kilim style pillows, great if you don’t want the mismatched throw pillow look.
Which of these Turkish Kilim Pillows are your favorite and which would be the best mismatched throw pillows? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
And PLEASE if you come across any vibrant orange or red pillows with light blue accents, let me know. They might be the perfect tribal pillows I’ve been looking for!
UPDATE: I found 3 Kilim Pillows that I love and my living room is complete (for now anyway). Here’s the final results!
