Guys are hard to shop for. Period. I know they probably say the same of women but I have to politely disagree. Women are generally more vocal about things they want whether it be an engagement ring or a new mop, we’re probably going to let you know one way or another. Guys just don’t talk about the things they want as much. At least that is my experience. And so, I’ve talked to some men in my life and looked back at the best gifts I have given to them and compiled a list. These are my top unique gift ideas for men who have everything.
Unique Gift Ideas for Men Who Have Everything
Step one of this men’s gift guide for 2020 is, know who you’re buying for. A close relative or friend you can get riskier with. You know them, get into the nitty-gritty and get them something related to their interests. For a secret Santa or neighborhood gift exchange, or just an acquaintance, stick to the basics. Get them something anyone can use that doesn’t suggest anything weird (like deodorant for someone you barely know might suggest to them that they smell, or boxer briefs for a coworker is just inappropriate). So use these unique gift ideas for guys wisely and you’ll be in good shape!
Unique Men’s Gift Guide 2020
Home and Electronics
TV Sound Bar – We have a small sound system that includes a soundbar, subwoofer, and 2 back speakers in our downstairs family room where we watch movies. It’s such a nice thing to have when you’re watching suspenseful or action-packed movies (or Disney, let’s be real). It’s also a gift you can always add to so it’s nice a great gift for this year and next year. These are great options with tons of reviews and almost 5-star rating: 1 affordable soundbar, 2 soundbar + sub, 3 soundbar + sub + speakers
Smart Home Sound System – Home sound systems are not cheap and most need professional installation or at least wire running everywhere. My husband really wanted speakers throughout the house to use when we wanted to play music for a party or just when we’re cleaning, holiday decorating, etc. We decided the best and easiest solution for this was the Amazon Echo and Echo dot. We have 1 Echo and 2 Echo Dots throughout the house that are in a group called “everywhere” so we can say “Alexa, play Fleetwood Mac radio everywhere” and it will play the same Pandora station through the entire house. The sound quality is awesome and the ease of use is perfect. Plus you can ask it almost anything, maintain a shopping list, set reminders, and so much more. Highly recommend them and love them for this men’s gift guide for 2020.
Waterproof Portable Speaker – We have a couple of mini versions of this that we take when we travel but my husband really wants a great quality portable waterproof speaker to bring camping, in the backyard, to the beach or pool, to the cabin, etc. etc. They’re durable and can be taken basically anywhere. They’ll love it!
Phone case – There are some really cool phone cases out there. Stuck for affordable gift ideas for guys or need to fill a stocking? A nice phone case is a great option that anyone on your list can appreciate.
Portable Power Bank – LOVE having this power bank/portable phone charger for when I’m traveling or when the power goes out. It’s also great to have when you can’t be tied to a wall. Perfect when you need affordable gift ideas for men who have everything.
AirPods – To be honest, I don’t have an iPhone and I don’t use headphones ever so this one is not my forte. HOWEVER, I was told this is a hot item for lots of people and even better, I’ve heard the off-brand options are way more affordable and an awesome dupe to the Apple version or the Samsung version.
Weighted Blanket – I bought this weighted blanket for my husband who is a really bad sleeper and he loves it. Shortly after I bought it he went on a business trip without it and it was an eye-opener on how great the weighted blanket really is. I “borrowed it” while he was gone and slept so much better than I normally do when he’s away. Fast forward a few months and I was buying a second for myself. It’s so comforting and cozy. We choose this brand without the cover because we hate being hot in bed. It’s very cool, great quality, and a really awesome price point. It would also be good to layer under an existing blanket for those who get cold at night. Hands down, this is one of the best gifts for men (or anyone) on your list!
Nice Pillow – To piggyback on that, a quality pillow is a great option for gift ideas for men. I always find it funny that we have no problem spending a lot of money on a mattress but most people balk at spending money on a pillow. It’s really the same thing and the right pillow can make all the difference in your quality of sleep. This pillow is a good option for gifting since it is adjustable! I have a shredded memory foam pillow and it is the best pillow I have ever owned by far.
Robotic Vacuum – This one is on my husband’s and my Christmas list! I’d give anything to not have to worry about the floors as often. I’ve heard great things about the Eufy Vacuum and the moderately priced Roomba model both of which are still a big gift, but I think it will go over really well! I know appliances and vacuums are generally looked at as a gift no-no, but one that does the work for you sounds pretty great to me!
Kitchen, Bar, Grill – Gift Ideas for Men
Yeti Tumbler – In a normal circumstance I would say get a Yeti knockoff. They are almost always just as good and ½ the price. BUT for a Christmas gift, depending on who it’s for and how close you are, I’d say spring for the name brand. It gives a bigger impact upon opening, especially for someone you don’t live with. Yeti Mug, Yeti Lowball, Yeti Tumbler.
Drink Glasses – There are some really cool specialty cocktail glasses that you can buy online these days. They come in tons of varieties to suit any hobby and make for the perfect unique gift ideas for men. These are some of my favorite styles: trees, mountains, golf beer, golf whiskey, monogram seal, bullet, we the people, whiskey molecules, whiskey quote, Game of Thrones.
Unique Bottle Opener – There are lots of unique bottle openers to go with the drink glasses I listed. Some of my favorites are: classic wall mount, bullet, Thor hammer, antler, wall mounted bear, green army man
Drink Kits – Drink kits are great because you can buy one pre-made or do a DIY and customize it for the guys on your list. Some fun options are Bloody Mary Kit, Old Fashioned, Moscow Mule, Gin and Tonic, Global Cocktails, N/A bubble tea. Pair it with the drink glasses from above and you’ve got the whole gift covered.
Homebrew Kit – These became really popular several years ago when craft beer was a hot new thing. Now, homebrew kits are foolproof and a lot more affordable than in years past. They also allow you to get creative with your flavors and create a beer that’s entirely your own. Exactly how all your favorite craft brewers got their start! And again, this makes the best gift ideas for men list because everyone benefits 😉
Smoker – This was one of my dad’s favorite things to do. My parents have this smoker and have loved it for years and years. It makes amazing food and best of all, it’s small and portable. It’s also on my husband’s list!
Sous Vide Cooker – This is a super cool kitchen tool that vacuum cooks meat to the precise temperature you want. A sous vide is the perfect unique gift for men who like to cook. Plus, if they cook for you, you’ll reap the rewards, win-win.
Yeti Cooler – When we’re talking unique gift ideas for men you have everything, this is like the ultimate. Yeti Coolers are pricey but I think every man wants one. They keep your food and drinks cold FOREVER. Perfect for a day on the boat, up at the cabin, out camping in the woods, or just outside with friends and family.
Clothing and Accessories
Silicone Ring – Have a guy who does a lot of manual labor, is outdoorsy, or lifts weights? A silicon ring might be just what he’s looking for. It would also make a great stocking stuffer! This brand has amazing reviews and they are breathable.
Slippers – This was a go-to for my dad. He loved nice slippers and wore them all the time so a new pair was always appreciated and needed. If the guys on your list like robes, a nice robe could complete the gift. These are affordable and super highly rated. These are high quality and a classic style.
Nice socks – A great pair of high-quality socks can go a long way. Everyone needs them, but no one wants to pay for them. A few of my favorites for gifting: Danish Wool Socks, Athletic No-Show, Bombas
Nice underwear – Same as the socks above, everyone needs them, no one likes spending money on them. BUT probably best kept for your husband or partner because otherwise, that’s just awkward. Eek Some nice options for gifting: Adidas boxer briefs, Calvin Klein boxer briefs, Calvin Klein Boxers, Tommy Hilfiger Boxers, or the ultimate splurge Tommy John Boxer Briefs
Wallet – I got my husband a slim wallet a couple of years ago and he never looked back. If you know someone with a giant wallet, it’s time to help them downsize. You can still fit everything you need in them, you just skip out on the bulk. These make one of the best gifts for men because they all need one and they are used everyday.
Designer Smartwatch – I personally don’t love smartwatches that don’t look like a watch (I’m looking at your Apple) but these new designer styles look so classy and will seriously go with anything. If you have a stylish, tech-savvy guy on your list, these classic designs are the way to go! I love this fossil smartwatch and this Samsung smartwatch.
Health and Personal Care – Best Gifts for Men
Beard Kit – We’ve got a lot of babyfaces in our family but I know beards are super popular right now, especially with Covid lockdowns. High-quality beard kits are trending and I love it. Why can’t men use high-quality personal care products like women?! This one has 5,000 AMAZING reviews!
Bar Soap – I was recently looking for a new great bar soap for myself when I discovered a whole new world of modern men’s bar soaps. I am team bar soap + washcloth (boo to loofahs + body wash) so I am totally here for the new bar soap trend! Some of the ones I was loving for my guy are: Dr. Sasquatch Soap Set + Shampoo & Conditioner, Grandpa’s Pine Tar Shower Set, Duke Cannon Soap Set Frontier + WWII Era
Workout Gear – Given the state of the world, a lot of people are avoiding public places (and a lot of them are shut down) including gyms. A MEn’s gift guide for 2020 wouldn’t be complete without workout gear. Some things my husband loves are resistance bands, ab roller, exercise ball, and dumbbells (the adjustable dumbbells are a major wishlist item for him). He would also love a bench.
Massager – We have this manual back massager and it works wonders on hard to reach knots and sore muscles. I use ours regularly and I swear to you, it’s amazing and works better than a professional massage. You can also go the electronic route with his highly rated neck massager.
Sporting Goods
Golf – I feel like Golf related items are a safe bet for most men over the age of 30. I think every single middle-aged guy I know plays golf at least socially. It’s just one of those sports you can play even if you’re not great. My husband is an AVID golfer. He has a driving net that he uses regularly in the winter and a chipping net that lives in his office for when he needs a quick mental break. Top of his wish list is a distance finder or the ultimate gold gift, a Skycaddie shot tracker. You also can’t go wrong with a new golf glove or nice golf balls since they’re always needed.
Softball – If you have a rec. softball guy in your life you can always get them new batting gloves, or if you know them well, a new bat or baseball glove.
Basketball – This one doesn’t require a lot of gear but basketball is a great recreational sport that you can play right in your driveway. If you’re looking for unique gift ideas for men who like sports, a basketball hoop might be a good option if they don’t already have one. This one works for the younger guys on your list as well.
Sports Apparel and Jerseys – If you know their favorite sports teams, go for fan gear. These are the ultimate fall back gift ideas for guys who like sports. You can even get amazing quality, affordable, off-brand jerseys on Amazon these days.
Tools and Outdoors – Unique Gifts Ideas for Guys
Chainsaw – Outdoorsy guys or men with land or woods near their home or cabin will love this one. It is one of our most used outdoor tools. We have woods in our backyard that we need to tame every year. We have both an electric pole chainsaw and a large gas chainsaw. We use them both regularly so both are a great option. The smaller electric chainsaw option is probably more universal since it can be handheld or on the pole. Even I like using that one!
Saws – We have a circular saw that we use all the time for projects and a jigsaw that is great for smaller jobs. I would also love to have a table saw and a miter saw to make quick work of similar cuts.
Pocket Jig – This one is actually top of MY list. It would make life so much neater and easier when you’re joining 2 pieces of wood. If you have a DIYer in the family, get them a pocket jig. It’s one of those tools everyone wants but they often won’t buy themselves.
Drill – We have 3 drill/driver combos that we have purchased over the years. It is a must-have for any homeowner. This drill is a great option for average use. Add a drill and driver bit set to finish off the gift. If you’re looking for gift ideas for men who do a lot of building I would recommend this matrix drill because it has a bit more power. We have both listed and they are each great depending on your needs. One of the best gifts for men, especially new homeowners, single guys, or DIYers.
Power Washer – This is arguably the most satisfying house project which, for me, makes it actually enjoyable. I love the instant gratification of power washing. The key to buying a power washer is getting one that will actually get the job done without being 500lbs of metal you have to lug around the house. My parents have this one and we borrow it all the time (it’s probably time to get our own). It works great, it’s lightweight, and it’s electric which is SO nice.
Bluetooth Ear Protection – My husband got this bluetooth ear protection for when he is using the chainsaws or for mowing the grass. Those loud engines are not good for your ears and having the option to listen to music makes the job that much more enjoyable.
Headlamp – This is one of the best gifts for men because you really end up using it all the time. We use ours while camping, walking at night, having a bonfire in the backyard, for power outages, as a detail light for projects, and I use one to read in bed every night. We have 6 headlamps and keep them in the camper and all over the house. They’re seriously great to have. Our kiddos even love them!
Firepit – A backyard bonfire is a great way to relax after a long day. If they don’t already have one, get them a portable fire pit. I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t love sitting around a fire and relaxing (maybe it’s a Midwest thing). Heck, they might even invite you out to enjoy it with them! Small firepit, Large firepit
Fun Stuff – Gifts Ideas for Men Who Have Everything
Drone – Also on my husband’s list (though what he would use it for I have no idea), a drone is one of the best gifts for men. It’s a fancy gadget that flies. Need I say more? Affordable Drone option, High Tech Drone option, both are highly rated.
Squirt Gun / Nerf Blaster – I surprised my husband with an in-home squirt gun war when he got home from work several years ago and it’s a memory he’ll never forget. He loved it and we both had so much fun. This year, a nerf blaster is on his list for playing dino hunter with our oldest son. It’s a toy for all ages and great for the young at heart. I’ve also had my eye on this automatic nerf target.
Adult RC Car – This is also high up on my husband’s wish list. An adult RC Car is the ultimate toy and one of the more unique gift ideas for men. They’re easy to take places, fun for all ages, and way better than the smaller, kid options. This one is an RC car on steroids.
Man Crates – I love that Man Crates are a thing now. I use to make my own for my dad for Father’s Day but the high quality, gourmet options that you can buy are so awesome. These are awesome gifts for guys who have everything. Jerky Ammo Can, Exotic Meats Crate, Pint Glass Ammo Crate, Grilling Crate, Bacon Crate
Travel
Packing Cubes – Have someone who loves to travel (or a super organizer) on your list? These packing cubes are awesome for keeping everything organized while you’re on the road! They’re highly rated, come with a ton of different size cubes, and are available in several colors. Perfect gift for guys who travel.
Staycation – Get a gift certificate from a cool semi-local hotel, throw in a gift card to a nice restaurant and you’ve got the makings for a perfect night away! My favorite sites to book through are Trip Advisor (especially the vacation rentals!) and Travelocity.
Trip – Want to splurge? Get them a travel voucher for a destination of their choice! It’s safe to say this is something everyone wants once this Pandemic winds down and we have some freedom back! Or if you know their dream destination, plan out the whole trip and maybe even tag along! Again, my favorite sites to book through are Trip Advisor and Travelocity.
Day Off + Gift Card – Probably one of the most appreciated items that are often overlooked is a day to just get away and do anything you want. If they have kids, offer to babysit and give them a gift card to a golf simulator, ifly indoor skydiving, a craft brewery or distillery, or just a visa gift card to do with as they please! Consider this the gift of a mental health day. We all need them from time to time.
Gifts for Guys Who Have Everything
That wraps up my list. According to my Instagram poll, most people think men are harder to shop for and I fully agree. I hope I’ve taken a little of that stress off your plate and you’ve found some great options for the guys on your list!
