I’m an avid online shopper and a lot of my friends have recently been asking where to buy “the best mom swimsuits.” I know what they’re asking and why, but no matter if you’re 20, 50, pre-baby, pregnant, postpartum you should really just wear the swimsuit that makes you feel the best. That being said, some women (and men) feel like they need to cover certain parts as they get older. SO, I’m breaking down a little bit of everything for all you moms out there looking for something new! I’ve got tips on how to shop for flattering swimsuits that are still cute, my favorite stores for cute mom swimsuits, and the best swimsuits in each style, mom bikini, tankinis, one-pieces (which are so hot right now!), modest, sexy, cut-outs, high-neck, high-waisted two-piece swimsuit bottoms and everything else you can think of!
Cute Mom Swimsuits 2019
I’ve got tips on how to shop for flattering swimsuits, my favorite stores for cute mom swimsuits, and the best swimsuits in each style – mom bikini, tankinis, one-pieces (which are so hot right now!), modest, sexy, cut-outs, high-neck, high-waisted two-piece swimsuit bottoms, and everything else you can think of!
Tips on Shopping for the Best Mom Swimsuits:
As I said, there are a ton of cute mom swimsuits, you just have to determine your comfort level and go from there. A few shopping tips if you’re a new mom like me:
- If you’re breastfeeding you might need a larger or more modest swimsuit top – I’ve always had a full bust (32DDD) which makes shopping for cute swimwear difficult. I use to order all of them from Victoria’s Secret because they were bra sized, affordable, and so, so adorable! Well, thanks VS for crushing all of our swimwear dreams when you discontinued the collection last year. This year I’m left hunting for suits that accommodate my full cup. Now that I’m breastfeeding, it’s to the extreme. I want something modest that I’m comfortable wearing in front of my in-laws and will fluctuate with fullness, but I don’t want frumpy.
- You’ll need something that stays in place – You might be running around after a toddler, or just toting a little babe on your hip. Either way, you’ll be bending and moving more than usual so you’ll probably want something that stays where it needs to be.
- Patterns = camouflage – they hid any lumps, bumps, pouches, etc. more than a solid color would (except solid black, that’s always your friend).
- Ruching is your friend – Anything from fully ruched one-pieces to ruched backs on swimsuit bottoms provide definition and hide problem areas. I personally LOVE the ruched back bottoms. They give you 2 cheeks rather than one uni-cheek 😉 They’re just super flattering on a lot of bums.
- There might be areas you want to cover up and that’s totally doable – There are so many cute mom swimsuits these days. High-neck swimsuits are super trendy right now. One-piece swimwear is also super hot. Even high-waisted two-piece swimsuit bottoms are very popular. It gives you so many options for hiding areas you’re uncomfortable with. Flattering mom swimsuits are basically what’s trending now which is super convenient and makes shopping for postpartum swimsuits a lot less painful!
- If you want to rock the bikini, rock the bikini – Your postpartum body might not be what it was 5 years ago, so what. If you’re comfortable in your skin, wear what you want. You don’t need a frumpy, one-piece just because you had a baby. Sexy mom bathing suits exist for a reason. Because people still want them and still wear them proudly.
Best Stores to Shop for Cute Swimsuits for Moms:
Online might not be your first thought when it comes to swimsuit shopping but here’s why I like it. OPTIONS. There are so many more options online than there are in-stores. Find some places with good return policies and cheap or free shipping and it’s going to be worth it. My favorite places to shop for the best mom swimsuits are:
- Target – So many styles and sizes online! Super convenient and if you have a red card (which you should) you get 5% off plus free shipping and free, easy returns to the store.
- Amazon – They have the best shipping and returns if you’re a prime member. Plus they have so many more options than everywhere else. If you sign up for the Amazon Prime Credit Card you get 5% back on your Prime purchases (plus 1-2% back on everything else)!!
- Red Dress Boutique – So cute, affordable, and on-trend.
- Macy’s – They’re always running sales, and they have a lot of affordable options online.
- LuLu’s – Trendy, sexy, and a wide variety of styles.
- Mod Cloth – Vintage styles, a wide range of sizes are available in all the cute styles.
- Bare Necessities – They carry larger sizes and bra-sized swimsuits which make it convenient for full busted mommas like me.
- REVOLVE – High end, couture styles for a more affordable price.
- FigLeaves – Affordable and made for mom’s (but still cute!).
- Nordstrom – Super cute prints and styles, especially in the one-pieces.
- CupShe – REALLY great prices on cute, trendy swimsuits.
- Coastal Blue – This is a new collection that has awesome variety at great prices, all with the Amazon perks!
Two-Piece Mom Swimsuits
If you’re looking for a two-piece swimsuit there are a lot of options. You’ve got bikinis for moms, tankinis, high-neck swimsuit tops, high-waisted two-piece swimsuit bottoms, sporty, sexy mom bathing suits, and everything in-between. Here’s a breakdown of the best mom swimsuits in the two-piece category.
Mom Bikini Two Pieces:
There is a wide range of styles of mom bikini two-pieces. You’ve got everything from sexy mom bathing suits to more modest swimsuits for moms.

High-Neck Swimsuit Tops:
High-neck swimsuits are super hot right now. This is great for moms because they offer a bit more coverage on top and also allow for more movement without being concerned about…slippage…

High-Waisted Two-Piece Swimsuit Bottoms:
This might be the biggest trend in mom swimsuits. The high-waisted two-piece swimsuit bottoms suck in and cover the main area affected by pregnancy, the tummy. If you’re self-conscious about that area but are looking for a two-piece, this might be the way to go.

Tankini Mom Swimsuits:
I never used to be a fan of tankinis, I’m not sure why, but they seriously have come a long way since the 90’s. There are so many cute styles, patterns, and colors these days, plus they provide full coverage while allowing for easier sizing than a one-piece swimsuit. With a tankini, you can purchase a small top and a large bottom for a more custom fit. You can also mix and match tops and bottoms which gives you tons of flexibility in your look!
One-Piece Mom Swimsuit:
so finding cute mom swimsuits and one-pieces never went hand in hand until recently. One-piece swimsuit designers have gotten so creative with their cuts, patterns, fasteners, etc. There are SO many options and cute styles it’s easy to find a one-piece that’s a sexy mom bathing suit rather than frumpy grandma suit. Pick the areas you want to be covered and find styles that suit your needs. There are one-piece swimsuits with cutouts, with plunging necklines, with low backs, with high necks, and basically anything else you can think of! Here are some of my favorite cute one-piece swimsuits for moms.
Prints and Floral One-Piece Swimsuits
I mentioned above that prints are super forgiving. They camouflage our least favorite areas, plus they are SO cute! Some of the best mom swimsuits!
One-Piece Swimsuits for Moms with Cutouts
Cutout swimsuits, or monokinis, offer more coverage than a bikini but not as much as a tradition one-piece. This might be a good option if you want a trendy suit with a little more tummy coverage.
Mesh InSet One Piece Mom Swimsuits:
Similar to the cut-outs, the mesh insets offer a bit more coverage while adding a little sex appeal! These are the sexy mom bathing suits!
Ruched One-Piece Mom Swimsuits:
As I mentioned early on, ruching is very forgiving which makes them some of the best mom swimsuits. It hides the lumps and bumps in post-baby bodies. There are a lot of new options with this style, it’s not just your old frumpy skirted suits anymore!
Vintage Style Swimsuits:
People love the vintage look, or they hate it. I think there are a lot of middle of the road options that are SUPER cute. Choose a suit with a hint of retro or go full-on rockabilly.
Plunging Low-Cut Neckline Swimsuits
These take a bit of daring but they offer more coverage than a bikini while being uber sexy mom bathing suits. Plus the designs on these ones, in particular, are gorgeous!
Can’t Forget the Swimsuit Cover Ups!

Great post! OK… I own the Cupshe high neck green leaf bikini off Amazon. Two words after returning from my tropical honeymoon. Absolutely. Amazing. The fit, quality and price.

Thanks for your comment, Crystal! You’re right, moms come in ALL sizes and shapes: thin, curvy, athletic, plus, and everything in between! I do agree more variety in models would be great. The stores choose the models but I did make sure to include swimsuits that come in all sizes and images of various body types whenever possible. #allwomenarebeautiful
I am just saying all these are awesome suits, Thanks a lot for such a great post.
Meghan this is an incredibly thorough and helpful post! Thank you! I will keep it in mind for my readers who have asked about swimsuits that flatter those postpartum bellies 🙂
