UPDATE: After 6 years our Hoover WindTunnel 2 died. To be fair, we did vacuum up a lot of drywall dust and then my husband rinsed the inside filter which basically turned to cement, so it’s probably our fault. I do think it’s still a great value and the price is hard to beat. BUT we opted for a different vacuum this time around.

Recently, after cleaning the house, I noticed our floors still looked really dirty. Like there was hair stuck in the carpet weave. We have 2 cats so this seemed entirely reasonable but I still thought maybe our vacuum should be doing a better job. I started researching the best pet hair vacuum and found a wide range of options and prices. I like a clean house but I really don’t like spending a lot of money on cleaning products. I mean what fun is that? So I decided to start with a low priced pet vacuum and hope for the best. After a lot of research, I purchased the Hoover WindTunnel 2 High Capacity Pet Bagless Upright. This is very possibly the best cleaning product purchase I have ever made, and for only around $100!

The proof is in the pudding, or in this case, the canister. I vacuumed my whole house with the old vacuum and then immediately after with the new vacuum. I had to empty the new pet hair vacuum canister TWICE. Seriously, yuck. As I suspected, the old vacuum was majorly missing the pet hair. Any vacuum probably would have been better, but this vacuum was awesome. Here’s why:

Great suction.
I asked my husband what he loves the most about our vacuum and he said: “It Sucks!” (He thinks he’s so funny). But seriously, it can handle pet hair, my long hair, cat litter, dust (from our numerous home renovations), and anything else we’ve thrown at it over the years. The suction height also adjusts to work on different floors so you’re always getting the perfect deep clean.
Price.
Seriously, it’s so affordable for what you get. When you compare this to other vacuums that cost upwards of $800, it’s a steal!
Attachments.
This is the best pet hair vacuum for carpet and upholstery because it comes with a bunch of pet related attachments. They’re made from rubber so they grab the hair on stairs, upholstery, rugs, carpet, car seats, and basically anything covered in fabric. The crevice tool is great for getting at the hard to reach places without moving furniture.
Extra large canister.
You don’t have to empty the canister constantly and it doesn’t take bags.
Easy to Clean.
To empty the canister, simply press the canister button then press the button for the bottom hatch to dump the dirt! When it’s time to clean the filter just open the filter compartment, remove the filter, rinse it, and let it dry.
Lightweight.
For a large vacuum, it’s easy to maneuver and carry up and down stairs.
Overall this is a great investment. We’ve had it for a couple years now and it still works like the day we brought it home. I loved it so much I told all my friends and family about it and several people have purchased it and agree it’s the best pet hair vacuum.
Not only is it the best cat hair vacuum, it’s also the best dog hair vacuum.
My parents have a dog and 2 cats. They had an old Kirby vacuum (which were the best of the best back in the day) and really loved it. When I told them about my new vacuum and how amazing it was, my mom was intrigued. She tried it out after vacuuming with her Kirby and was shocked at how much hair she got up. Their dog has short wiry hair that sticks into the carpet like no other hair can.
