What’s the best oil for dry hair? Aveda Dry Remedy Hair Oil!
My Dry Hair Story and How I Found the Best Oil for Dry Hair
I have a lot of very long, straight, thin hair that I have been coloring since I was around 17. It’s always been pretty healthy other than that summer I decided I didn’t want BLACK hair anymore and completely stripped it (to ORANGE) and then dyed it medium brown. That was a rough era for my hair but other than that it’s been pretty healthy. Over the years I have learned to limit the blow drying, brushing, and curling/straightening but it still gets a little dull from time to time. Especially in the summer.
Waaay back in the day, I used V05 Hot Oil Treatments periodically to keep my hair shiny. Then college happened and I was box coloring my hair regularly and spending my money on “more important things” than healthy hair. Fast forward to 2009ish when Moroccan Argan Oil became a major fad and I decided it was time to figure out how to fix my dry hair. I’m not a spender when it comes to hair products so I started small with Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. It worked a bit and for the money it was great. Shortly after I decided it was time to try another oil and maybe one a bit “nicer” so I bought Umberto Beverly Hills Roman Oil Serum and I also liked that option for adding shine to my hair.
Well, fast forward to 3.5 years ago when I was planning my wedding and getting my hair prepped and dyed more regularly. It started getting a little crunchy at the worst possible time. I mean we have a million pictures taken that day, our hair needs to be amazing, right?! So I was doing some research on what’s the best oil for dry hair and talking to my hair stylist and found out most hair oils contain a silicone that coats the hair and makes it shiny but doesn’t get to the root of the problem by actually penetrating the hair strand. So I started looking for something natural that would help the health of my hair, not just the look of it. That’s when I found Aveda Dry Remedy Hair Oil.
Why Aveda Dry Remedy is the Best Oil for Dry Hair
Aveda Dry Remedy Hair Oil is a silicone-free formula that depends on the hydrating power of buriti oil to give your hair amazing moisture and shine. Rather than coating the hair it penetrates it to actually help build moisture which makes the hair softer and shinier.
I wasn’t super thrilled about spending that much money on such a small bottle of oil but I have to tell you, I have had this oil for over 3 years now, I use it weekly (on average) on my very long, thin hair, and I still have a half a bottle left. HALF A BOTTLE in 3 years!! That’s some amazing stuff! Totally worth the price and that’s why this is the best oil for dry hair!
I’ve found the best place to order Aveda Dry Remedy Oil is from Nordstrom because they have free shipping on all orders and Amazon (which is typically my go-to) rarely has it in stock and sometimes, with things like this, you get a knockoff product from Amazon sellers. If you’re going to spend the money, best to just order directly from a reputable store.
My shiny, healthy hair!
What’s the best oil for dry hair? Aveda Dry Remedy Oil!
Choosing a natural product is always the better option when possible. Even the EWG gives Aveda Dry Remedy a great rating! It works wonders, I love the smell, and my hair feels healthier after every use! Because it doesn’t have silicone in it, it absorbs into damp hair better than other hair oils so it doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy or heavy like other hair oils can.
